January Roundup: Great Eats & Exciting Plans for Black History Month

January was full of amazing meals, good vibes, and unforgettable dining experiences. I visited some incredible restaurants, and if you missed any of my reviews, here’s a quick roundup of where I ate and what stood out:

  • Cordelia Fishbar – The Coal-Roasted Oysters were hands down a highlight. If you love charbroiled oysters, this spot is a must. Plus, the ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect last-minute dinner choice.

  • The Duchess Chilled Local Broccoli Goma-ae: A pleasant surprise! Sweet, refreshing, and flavorful—definitely a standout.

  • Sost – The drinks here did not disappoint. My Dirty Martini was perfect, and my friends couldn’t stop raving about the Lemon Drops and Espresso Martini. Add in a late-night DJ set and a lively lounge atmosphere, and Sost easily became a top-tier night out.

  • Medina – A Middle Eastern-inspired lounge with stunning ambiance and standout cocktails. The Espresso Martini with Turkish Coffee Ice Cream was a unique highlight, and I can’t wait to go back for their Martini Service.

Now that February is here, I’m extra excited to celebrate Black History Month by highlighting some of my favorite Black-owned restaurants in the Baltimore and DC areas—some I’ve loved for years and a few new spots I can’t wait to try.

Stay tuned for the reviews, and if you have a must-visit Black-owned restaurant, drop your recommendations! I just might add them to my list.

Cheers to great food, culture, and community!
